SAN (Storage Area Network) Global Market Sees Uptick

According to a recent report from IT-Online, the global market for SAN (Storage Area Network)equipment grew three percent in 2014, to $2.5 billion. After a decline in 2013, demand returned for equipment built to handle the server-to-storage-array of data center traffic, the report stated. The fourth quarter of the year saw growth of two percent, totaling $669 million and the demand for 16G and high performance solid-state drive storage increased.

Infonetics Research’s director of data center, cloud, and SDN, Cliff Grossner, stated that it’s a market with a bright future, as 2x25GE ports begin shipping this year and a new era of cloud computing begins and cloud service providers have a clear migration path.

Indeed, the future of the data center is bright as new developments provide us with even more capabilities and offerings for our customers.
