Cloud Management Platforms vs. Managed Cloud Platforms: Know the difference and your preference
Cloud Management Platforms may help users manage their cloud environments, but a better solution may lie with a managed cloud platform, like CloudKeySM
What is a Cloud Management Platform?
From our own glossary, a cloud management platform (CMP) is a product that gives the user integrated management of public, private, and hybrid cloud environments.
Gartner also explains further: “Cloud management platforms are integrated products that provide for the management of public, private, and hybrid cloud environments. The minimum requirements to be included in this category are products that incorporate self-service interfaces, provision system images, enable metering and billing, and provide for some degree of workload optimization through established policies.”
A survey from O’Reilly at the beginning of 2020 gave a snapshot of the cloud from over 1,000 respondents, saying that 88% of companies now use the cloud in one form or another. It should be safe to say that most companies are operating in the cloud, and at this point, some are better equipped than others.
Part of that equipment includes CMPs, which offer the ability to optimize cost, increase innovation, and help “future proof” companies by serving as an integration point for multiple systems.
Why a Managed Cloud Platform like CloudKeySM Can Offer More
It’s important for a business operating with a cloud environment to utilize a CMP. However, many companies are finding the simplification of solutions a CMP offers are adding on to their list of complications. A CMP becomes one more component that a business must investigate and contend with before they can fully integrate the cloud tools they want to utilize.
For Global IP Networks, the objective has always been to provide top-of-the-line service and cloud solutions to help simplify – not complicate – the operations of a business. This is achieved through a myriad of services, but one of the best ones offered is the proprietary cloud platform CloudKey.
With CloudKey, not only does a company no longer need to hassle with which CMP to utilize, but almost all aspects of their various cloud environments become consolidated into an all-inclusive cloud platform. Aspects like maintenance, monitoring, and management are no longer required of the company, since these services become included with the integration of CloudKey. However, Global IP doesn’t want to simply give you a one-size-fits-all tool and hope that every company is happy with it. CloudKey is a bespoke cloud platform that is customized to a company’s exact needs, curated by our team of IT professionals.
